1864 - Battle of Yellow Tavern, Virginia.  Confederate General J. E. B. Stuart is mortally wounded in losing to Phillip Sheridan

1865 - Confederate Vice President Alexander Stephens is arrested at Liberty Hall, his estate in Crawfordville, Georgia by members of the 4th Iowa Cavalry.
