Over the years people have asked us if the Union Army had tracts, chaplains or any revivals. We've also been asked why there were no reprinted books on these subjects. To which our reply is we have seen very few books that deal with anything to do with the spiritual side of the Union Army, and of these we had seen none that were compelling enough to reprint.
The Lord has heard our prayers and has answered them. He has provided such a book. "Christian Memorials of the War" is a tremendous historical account of the Christian character and faith of many of the officers, soldiers and sailors in the Union army.
The author, Horatio B. Hackett, did a great job of collecting these stories, from many different sources, chaplains first hand accounts, United States Christian Commission delegates accounts, newspaper articles and more. He says in his preface, "Most persons will agree that the incidents recorded in these pages are worth preserving..." and we must concur.
